The first FISH!!!!!

AN ICE FISHING VICTORY!!!  What a way to start off the new year.  The boys decided to try their luck once more on January 2nd.  This time the target was on the base.  They decided to go cold turkey also...now tent, heater, or extra gear.  They were going to sit on the ice fully exposed like "REAL MEN"!  It was below in temp.  but they did it....AND...VICTORY!  They both caught fish and they each brought one home for us to eat.  We beleive that ours was a rainbow and our friends was a lake trout.  But, all that matters now is...they really can catch a fish.  My husband is not totally cursed.

Sidenote:  We are not "good" fisherman.  Typically we get goose eggs.  When we were first married we did a cruise to Alaska and did deep sea fishing...nothing.  In Hawaii we gave it a go again...nothing.  In Alaska we tried again...nothing.  We have gone with our friend in Colorado...ice...nothing...boat...trout.  We are still hunting for that elusive lake Salmon...never seen it yet.  So we have concluded that it is my husband.  Now that curse has been lifted.  We are very grateful as we need to catch fish here!

We have also been very blessed to have good neighbors who have given us smoked salmon and regular reds from thier dip netting last year.  At a ward party white elephant I also got more smoked salmon and cream cheese...yummy!  I believe fish is a staple food now...so glad we ate it at lease once a week or more in Colorado so the kids are used to it and have no problem eating it.

And the picture of the fish and the proud fisherman with partially frostbitten feet from being a "REAL MAN".
