MAIDEN VOYAGE....IT FLOATS

We purchased a canoe at a Garage Sale and still did not know if it would float.  We decided to test out the canoe.  We headed to Eklutna Lake only to discover that it was a bit of a hike in and it was too windy.  So we headed back home and decided that we should try another lake.  We went to MIRROR LAKE.  And it floats!

 

Upon returning home and unloading the car...S runs past us yelling "Moose, moose, moose!"  We hear a stir and turn to see this.

Followed by these.....

This mother moose gave birth a few days earlier in the cul de sac next to us.  It was such a neat experience.  We all stood and watched from our driveway.  She was so calm and stoic.  Funny looking things for sure, but powerful.  The twins hid next to the house while she ate.  Moose around here are pregnant during the winter when they are starving for food.  For her to have twins and survive this long winter with record amounts of snow she is AMAZING in my book.
