HIGHLIGHTS

That's right...we moved to Alaska on the snowiest year ever!  It feels good to know we came here at the worst.  It can only get better.  We keep telling ourselves that anyway.

The snow is melted and you can see things growing all around.  But first you have to rake up all that has fallen over the winter.  This is a HUGE chore.  I'm thinking we are going to be making some awesome forts in our backyard this summer with all of the fallen branches.

The 108 steps of PAIN
My kids go up these stairs daily.  I usually accompany them.  However, one day I came across a 72 year old lady who does 15 sets (up and down) three times a week.  At that time I found myself winded with just one down and back up.  I decided then, "If a 72 year old can do it, I CAN TOO!"  I am proud to say- I TOO CAN DO 15 SETS!

I also am getting better at making bread.

This IS my machine and bread.  Doesn't it look great?  Oh how I love warm bread out of the oven with butter.  Yum Yum!

As the snow is melting we are discovering many signs we have never seen.  We are also realizing that trails we have been following are not trails at all.  I find myself "lost" because it doesn't look familiar.  One sign we just discovered...

-Yard Saling in Alaska-

Only in Alaska will you find a bear fur for sale.  Only $900 if you want it.  Crumpled up on a tarp that is placed over the mud and dirt.  Hilarious!
Truth is...we have found amazing deals at garage sales.  Mongoose bikes for D and I...$10 each.  A SAGE fly reel $15, 4 nice life jackets $35, Waders $5, a canoe, fly tying vise and many other things.  It is a lot of fun.  I have even addicted my hubby and daughter!  Every Saturday starts with hitting up the garage sales first thing in the morning.

Bear Tooth Theatre Pub
This place is a keeper for us!  We watched the Lorax while we ate pizza and salad and soda.  It is so family friendly I was shocked.  So much fun.  We will be returning soon.
